Like Elphaba's

Timothy is all boy, all the time.  We are currently going through a trucks, digger, etc. phase.  As part of this phase we have a new bedtime book.  Goodnight Construction Site.  It's a really cute book.  The other night we were reading it and I pointed out to Timothy that when the cement mixer truck goes to bed it has a blanket.  After I pointed to the blanket Timothy said "like Elphaba's."  And he's right.  The cement mixer has a taggie blankie just like Elphie's!  Good eye, Tim!

Daddy

These kiddos love their daddy.  And their mommy loves to make them pose with daddy.  Frequently.  One day we will capture the perfect picture.  We are getting close.... we just need those darn pacis as a crutch!

Timothy loves to wear socks on his hands - just go with it.  We do.
Love Elphie's stare at Tim

And the winner -- Daddy and kiddos!

Lovely Evenings

I love it when evenings just fall into place.  Nothing extraordinary happened tonight but we just had such a nice relaxing time getting the kids ready for bed.  Maybe that's because I wasn't up for a fight and let Timothy pass on his bath.  Maybe it's because Mark and I both had to leave work a bit early for a meeting at the house so we weren't rushed walking in the door.  Maybe it's because we all hung out together upstairs during Elphie's bath time instead of being scattered throughout the house.  Who knows why, but we'll take it!

This little lady loves her baths! If only I could keep her in there longer to tire her out more. Unfortunatley, usually I'm trying to juggle both Tim and Elphie during bath time so she is the first to come out since she cannot be trusted not to stand up while my back is turned:)

As I said I gave Timothy a pass on his bath because I just didn't want to fight. Besides Timothy had other things in mind (as he often does) -- he was all about his fireman costume. But if only you could see what was underneath the costume ....

That's our boy --

And after Elphie went to bed, Timothy and I watched a bit of the Polar Express. This was his face during the part where the train is on the ice. He stayed like this for a good 5 minutes. Then when the train made it off the ice he told me "all better mommy." What a sweetheart that kid! And yes I know he is wearing Halloween PJs in May. But when can you do?

Primrose Spring Fling

Timothy and Elphie's school had their annual spring fling.  Both of the kids had a great time (and a great nap after).  Timothy really enjoyed riding the horse.  We were about to leave and he decided he wanted to ride it again.  We waited in a very long line for him to do so and he was practically asleep in my arms.  But it was so worth it!  Below are lots of pics.
Go Timothy go!

Elphie loves the swings!

Waiting in line for the last horse ride -- Elphie was wide awake in the stroller.

Easter

We had a lovely Easter.  It was fairly relaxing staying in town.  Went to church in the AM and then had a great (indoor) egg hunt with Lucas, Mariana, and Leo.  The kids loved their baskets too.  With Tim when there is chocolate what's not to love?!   Elphie didn't really notice her basket too much. Although Elphie received a snake puppet whom Timothy has adopted.  "Snakey" has become a big part of the family!  And yes, I get the irony of Elphie having both a snake and a bunny rabbit in her Easter basket.

Easter Bunny Pics

Had to take Elphie for her first pictures with the Easter Bunny.  Didn't even try to take Timothy because I knew that wouldn't fly.  I had hopes for Elphie but as you can see -- well she wasn't too into it either.

Standing in line -- happy girl!

Chilling with the Bunny -- not so happy

Ta Da - 9 months

As Tim would say --- -"Ta Da." And we're back. Well we will see. At least the computer is fixed so now we can try to be back and Timothy can show off Elphie! Here she is 9 months small! She continues to be a little peanut. At her 9 month appointment she got the seal of approval and yet another nod that while she continues to grow - she's just "petite."

And the stats say it all ---
Weight - 16 lbs 3 oz - 5-10%
Length - 26 1/8 inch - 5-10%
Head - 16 5/8 inch - 5-10%

She's been crawling around for a month or so now and pulling up everywhere.  Just a few days after her 9 month bday she started to walk with her walker. She has 2 sharp bottom teeth that broke through right around 8.5 months and she wakes up anywhere from 1 to 3 times a night.  She's a very very happy girl and quite easy going.  Especially compared to Timothy who's in his terrible 2s full force.  And, of course -- we couldn't love her any more.  Can't wait to watch her continue to grow and learn.

Baby 1 versus Baby 2

Well -- I hate to pit the two against each other already but it's impossible not to make some comparisons when my pregnancies have been so different.  Here's a little summary:

Morning sickness - Baby #1 ("Timothy") none.  Baby #2 some.  Nothing extreme and it went away midway through the second trimester.  However, I have to hand it to Timothy he scores the points on this one.

Fatigue - Timothy none.  I ran a 10k during the first trimester and worked out up until month 6 or so.  Baby #2 -- exhausted during the first trimester.  I must say, however, that much of this could have been from 1) chasing Timothy or 2) having some really busy work weeks in the fall.

Weight gain --- Timothy lots.  Baby #2 -- not as much.  I certainly am packing on the pounds but it does not seem to be as much as I did with Timothy.  Probably because I'm running around after Timothy and started off a bit slower gaining weight due to the morning sickness.

Cravings -- Timothy none really -- occasionally wanted fruit more than normal.  Baby #2 nothing too notable although there have been several occasions were I wanted one thing or another in particular.

Discomfort - Timothy none.  I got a bit uncomfortable at the end with some swelling but nothing really problematic. Baby #2 --- ugh.  Baby #2 has a talent for stretching out and being able to sit on my bladder and kick me in the ribs at the same time.  Not sure how he/she does it but he/ she does.  Baby #2 also just makes it difficult to breath in general.  Around 24 weeks I had to go to court for something and when I was preparing I noticed after I was about 2 sentences into my statement/ argument I was already out of breath.  Nice.

Sleeping -- Timothy no real problems.  Baby #2 no real problems.  There was/is slight discomfort with each when sleeping, but nothing that is preventing me from falling asleep or staying asleep.

Conclusion ---??????  No real conclusion.  Just different.  It may appear that Baby #2 is more difficult, but I'm waiting to see how Baby #2 enters this world and how he/she sleeps before I am going to make a final decision.

ANYWAY -- current picture taken at work (I never remember at home).

30 weeks 4 days

Sleep Style

My sweet boy has never been the best sleeper. He's never been the worst sleeper either, but he's just not a superstar in the realm of sleep. I will say, however, that once he was able to rollover his sleep dramatically improved. He definitely prefers to sleep in his belly and typically in the child's pose. Lately, however, I've been fearful that he may be growing out of that as I often find him sleeping more spread out.  It makes me sad because he is so cute cuddled up!  Here is a picture of his child's pose sleeping.  Hope it will last for a bit longer.
